Against the backdrop of rapid development in the era of new media, social media has deeply integrated into the group of college students and become the core channel for their communication and interaction. Social media has played a positive role in meeting the social needs of college students, enhancing spiritual communication, and promoting personal expression, greatly promoting information sharing and dissemination. However, the popularity of social media has also brought about a series of problems, leading to some college students being overly dependent, resulting in social dependence, social fatigue, intensified emotional imbalance, and increasingly serious information loss. These problems pose challenges to the mental health development of college students. In response to the above issues, universities should shoulder important responsibilities and actively carry out psychological education and intervention work. By implementing effective regulatory measures, guiding college students to use social media correctly, promoting their comprehensive psychological development, and ensuring their healthy growth in the era of social media.
