In new media design, color, as an important visual element, not only has the function of conveying information, but also can stimulate the emotional resonance of the audience through its psychological properties and improve the effect of information transmission. First, the paper summarizes the basic concepts of color psychology, and analyzes the mechanism of influence of color on human psychology and physiology. Then, it elaborates the role of color in new media design, including enhancing visual impact, conveying emotion, creating atmosphere and shaping image. Through case analysis and theoretical discussion, the paper puts forward the specific application principles of color in new media design, including visual communication, information communication, emotional expression and color matching.
