Under the background of globalization, ice and snow sports documentaries, as an important medium of cultural exchange, are particularly important in their English translation and external communication strategies. This study aims to explore how to effectively translate and disseminate ice and snow sports documentaries in English through the perspective of emotion transfer, in order to enhance their international appeal and cultural exchange effects. It is found that in terms of English translation strategies, the best expression effect of English translation can be realized through the combination of literal and liberal translation strategy of emotional adaptation, emotional resonance translation strategy, emotional refinement translation strategy, and selective omission and addition strategy. In terms of external communication strategies, the construction of cross-cultural emotional bridges, the strengthening of emotional expression of cultural image, the emotional transmission of multi-perspective narrative and the content innovation based on emotional transmission can better retain and transmit the emotional value in documentaries and enhance the effect of cross-cultural communication. This not only enriches the theoretical foundation of sports documentary translation, but also provides a reference for the external communication of other types of documentaries.
