The translation and research of traditional Chinese educational thoughts in the West began with Matteo Ricci’s translation of the “Four Book” in the 16th century, and has now lasted for more than four hundred years. Although the translation and research of Chinese culture in the Western world have received limited attention, the translation and exploration of Chinese traditional education thoughts in the West, as a crucial and integral part of this endeavor, possess a distinct value that merits thorough examination. Through a comprehensive literature review, this paper reveals that the translation and introduction of these thoughts primarily center around two groups: Western missionaries, such as Matteo Ricci, Nicolas Trigault, Michele Ruggieri, Philippe Couplet, Robert Morrison, and James Legge, among others, and Western sinologists, including Abel Rémusat, Stanislas Julien, édouard Chavannes, Julien Green, Richard Wilhelm, Erich Hauer, Arthur Waley, and Bernhard Karlgren, to name a few. Furthermore, the research into Chinese traditional education thoughts in the West is firmly grounded in the theory of human nature, with a primary focus on exploring traditional educational concepts such as moral education, the principle of educating all without discrimination, and the application of knowledge to practical life. %K 中国传统教育思想,译介,研究
