%X As one of the core skills of language learning, listening skill acquisition has become an area of special focus and investigation in China. For years, college English teachers have taken it as an important subject to work on and they have been searching for scientific and reasonable ways to enhance students¡¯ ability in college English listening practice. This paper attempts to investigate the possibility and strategies of applying the discourse analysis theory in college English listening comprehension so as to direct students¡¯ efforts to use discourse analysis skills to remove the drawbacks in listening comprehension. In order to prove that discourse analysis and listening comprehension are closely connected with each other, some listening materials are selected as examples to vividly demonstrate how to use discourse analysis theories in English listening courses to improve students¡¯ listening ability, especially in compound dictation.
