Objectives: To understand the current situation of sense of meaning of life and suicidal tendency among senior students from divorced single-parent families, and to explore the factors affecting su-icidal tendency among senior students with divorced parents and the relationship between sense of meaning of life and suicidal tendency. Methods: A self-administered questionnaire on general de-mographic variables, the Adolescent Suicidal Tendency Scale (ASTS), and the Chinese Revised Ver-sion of the Meaningfulness of Life Scale (MLQ) were used to survey 907 students in a higher voca-tional college, and the study population was based on the screened 58 higher vocational students from divorced families, as the subjects needed for this study were the single-parent divorced-family higher vocational students. Results: Divorced single-parent family senior students had a lower sense of meaning for girls than boys, the total score of sense of meaning of life was significantly low-er for girls than for boys, and the sense of meaning of life of divorced single-parent family senior students without physical illness was higher than that of senior students with physical illness; the suicide identity of girls was significantly higher than that of boys, and the sense of despair of senior students with physical illness was significantly higher than that of senior students without physical illness. There was a significant negative predictive relationship between sense of meaning of life and suicidal tendency. Conclusion: Higher vocational students from divorced single-parent families with low scores of sense of meaning of life are more likely to develop suicidal ideation. Schools, fami-lies and society should take targeted measures to strengthen the education of sense of meaning of life so as to reduce the suicidal tendency of higher vocational students from divorced single-parent families.
