A Comparative Study over the Development Predicament of English Normal Major in Local Colleges and Its Countermeasures in the Context of Teacher Education Professional Programmatic Accreditation %A 张善富 %A 郑泽 %A 代江丽 %J Advances in Education %P 9081-9090 %@ 2160-7303 %D 2023 %I Hans Publishing %R 10.12677/AE.2023.13111403 %X 师范专业认证工作对地方院校英语师范专业发展而言既是机遇也是挑战。本研究通过判断抽样方法选择我国东、中、西不同地域的3所学院,围绕师范专业二级认证的8个一级指标收集相关文本资料,并辅以半结构式访谈,进而基于比较的方法考察3所学院英语师范专业发展的共性困境特征,并在此基础上提出对策。地方院校英语师范专业面临同质化培养问题尚未解决、教师教育类课程效果欠佳、教育实践效果有待提升、学生就业核心竞争力仍显不足等问题,而解决问题的根本路径在于革新课程体系设置和人才培养方案,重塑并做强英语师范专业的师范性特质空间,聚焦乡村师资培养。
Teacher Education Professional Programmatic Accreditation (TEPPA) brings both challenges and threats to the development of English normal major in local colleges. This study adopts the judgment sampling method, which aims to collect text materials based on the eight criteria of the second-level accreditation in TEPPA by purposefully selecting three departments respectively from the eastern, central and western areas in China, and the semi-structural interview. Then a comparative perspective is taken to demonstrate the analogical development dilemma and the countermeasures are under debate. The survey shows that the English normal majors are facing dreadful problems, such as homogenization process of preservice teacher education, poor performance in both teacher education courses and teaching practicum, and weak competence in teaching job market. Thus, we claim that the fundamental path is to renew the arrangements of curriculum and personnel training program, which eventually emphasize the prominence of education feature in this major.
