Mental health education and ideological and political education are two relatively independent courses in China’s university curriculum education, and occupy important positions in the univer-sity education system. Under the background of the new era, especially from the perspective of cur-riculum thought and politics, it is necessary to integrate the educational and teaching elements of mental health education and ideological and political education in colleges and universities, and explore a new ideological and political construction path of mental health education in colleges and universities through the integration and innovation of disciplines. From the practical basis of the integration of the two, on the one hand, the mental health education in colleges and universities creates the psychological premise for the effective development of ideological and political educa-tion; on the other hand, the ideological and political education in colleges and universities provides political and value guidance for the development of mental health education. Starting from how to realize the effective integration of mental health education and ideological and political education in colleges and universities, this paper probes into the feasibility and reality of the integration of the two, and explores the path of ideological and political construction of mental health education in colleges and universities.
