Based on the narrative theory and the notion of framing by Mona Baker, this study explores how the translator in the textless back translation activities frame four narratives in The Last Days of Old Beijing, including life in old hutong, urban modernization and preservation of inner cities, China after the reform and opening-up, and translation standards of the book. The study finds that taking into account the sociocultural differences between the source text and the target text, the translator gave full play to the subjective initiative, and flexibly applied the narrative framing strategies to accentuate these four narratives. The success of the translator in framing the narratives within the Chinese context is an important reason for the bestsellers of the book. This may serve as a lesson for other non-fiction books and promote cultural feedback. %K 叙事建构,无本回译,纪实文学
