Although Chinese and Korean are two completely different languages, China and Korea belong to the “Chinese character cultural circle” and have deep historical ties. This paper will take “white”, “black”, “red”, “green” and “yellow” as examples to compare the ethnic views and cultural connotations of color words in Chinese and Korean. The investigation revealed that there are certain similarities in the cultural connotations of color words in the two languages, and at the same time, due to the differences in national customs and national ways of thinking between the two countries, the cultural connotations of these color words will also be different. Understanding the cultural differences between Han and Korean color words is very important for Koreans to learn Chinese, Chinese learn Korean, and cross-cultural communication.
