This article examines how college counselors use WeChat in their work and its impact from a qualitative research perspective. Drawing on in-depth interviews with 15 college counselors and daily participant observation, the findings suggest that WeChat-based work takes various meanings for counselors: Information and communication technology, represented by WeChat, has altered the definition of work, while the expectation of being “always online” intensifies counselors’ work-life conflicts. The WeChat Moments of college counselors predominantly feature more work-related content and less personal-life content, which ultimately benefits their work performance, networking and self-persuasion. Meanwhile, the proactive use of WeChat by counselors is worth attention. This study is a supplement to the research on ICT and work in a Chinese context. %K 微信,ICT技术,辅导员,工作–生活冲突
