The vocabulary in petroleum commerce texts has its distinct characteristics. In this article, based on Eugene A. Nida's theory of functional equivalence, the lexical features and translation methods in petroleum commerce texts are discussed from multiple perspectives, including specialized words, archaic words, abbreviations, term repetition and noun usage trends.
