Objective: This study aims to investigate the effect of coronavirus-related suffering on depression. And it also aims to explore the mediating role of meaning in life in this relationship. Methods: A total of 283 participants from a university completed Suffering Measure during COVID-19, the depression subscale of Depression Anxiety Stress Scale and Quadripartite Existential Meaning Scale. Results: 1) Coronavirus-related suffering was positively correlated with depression. Coronavirus-related suffering and depression were negatively associated with meaning in life, respectively. 2) Coronavirus-related suffering positively predicted depression. 3) Meaning in life partially mediated the relationship between coronavirus-related suffering and depression. Conclusion: Suffering experiences caused by COVID-19 can positively predict depression directly or indirectly by decreasing meaning in life. %K 疫情痛苦经历,抑郁,生命意义感
