Aristotle’s rhetoric remains a significant constituent of modern linguistics. Traditional Aristotelian rhetoric attaches more significance to ethos, pathos and logos of speech rhetoric, whereas Neo-Aristotelian rhetoric incorporates language rhetoric into speech rhetoric. Acting as a special form of persuasion as well as an effective tool for political goals, inaugural addresses entail an enormous number of rhetorical strategies applied. This paper, by virtue of the theory of Neo- Aristotelian rhetoric, performs a comprehensive and multi-level qualitative analysis of inaugural addresses of British Prime Minister Elizabeth Truss and Rishi Sunak, aiming to reveal the practical methods of rhetoric.
