This paper explores the contextual adaptability of ¡°Nodehanaika¡± in academic spoken Janpanese under the theoretical framework of contextual adaptation. ¡°Nodehanaika¡± is an utterance choice made by the speaker under the influence of specific cultural values, and the use of ¡°Nodehanaika¡± represents salience. The contextual negotiation is embodied in the process of choice, the adaptation in the psychological context of mutual communication or the reconstruction of social context. From the perspective of discourse structure, ¡°Nodehanaika¡± can be collaborated with other discourse resources to articulate, predict, evaluate, and prompt new discoveries. Therefore, proper use of ¡°Nodehanaika¡± in academic discourse helps speakers establish harmonious interpersonal relationships, thus propagating and promoting achievements.
