Artworks are the fruit and carrier of a nation’s culture. Some obscure and awkward names of Chinese artworks in Chinese to English (C-E) translation are often seen in international communication. What’s more, there exists the national cultural absence of the source language in the translated names. All of these lead the translated names of art works to deviate from the discourse norms and aesthetic needs of the target audience. In the cross-cultural translation of artworks, it’s also the translators’ responsibility to preserve the meaning of artworks through appropriate translation of their names without causing confusion and cognitive deficiencies to the target audience, so that the full effect of the cross-cultural communication of artworks will be realized. %K 中国艺术作品,对外传播,译者责任,英译策略
