Long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) are a class of RNA molecules more than 200 nucleotides in length, characteristically do not encode proteins, and play an important role in the development of athero-sclerotic disease. Abnormal proliferation of vascular smooth muscle leads to pathological vascular remodeling, and LncRNAs can regulate vascular smooth muscle proliferation through multiple mechanisms.
