The findings of the research revealed that comedy achieved effects of humor by violating the maxims of the cooperative principle, i.e. quality, quantity, relation, and manner. This study might serve as a reference for future research in pragmatics, especially in the line of research from the cooperative principle perspective. %K The Cooperative Principle %K The Quality Maxim %K The Quantity Maxim %K The Relation Maxim %K The Manner Maxim %K Humor %K Sitcom %U http://www.scirp.org/journal/PaperInformation.aspx?PaperID=119038
