Said’s post-colonial theory and Huntington’s cultural conflict theory are different understandings of the relationship between civilizations in the post-colonial world. Zhang Chengzhi’s related expositions are moving back and forth between the intellectual pursuit of “rewriting” world history, rebuilding confidence in civilization, and promoting the coexistence of civilizations, and emotional speech based on the dualistic thinking of the East and the West and the discourse of cultural conflict. Said’s and Huntington’s theory complicatedly tangles in it, but is in line with the logical relationship of “Dao” and “Shu” in Chinese classical philosophy. Zhang Chengzhi’s writings show the actual achievements of Chinese post-colonial literature in Neo-Era literature. Its content and the linguistic dilemma it faces are of great significance for a comprehensive understanding of the current ideological status of Chinese intellectuals and the post-colonial experience of the Third World.
