Excess heavy metals in surface soil around gold deposits in Liaoning Province are mainly caused by gold mining, and are closely related to the genetic types of deposits. In the surface soil around ductile shear zone type gold deposit, the combination of excessive heavy metal elements (the re-ported rate of each element) is: Cr (100%) + Cu (100%) + Ni (82%) + Cd (65%) + Pb (17%). The gold deposits of metamorphic and magmatic hydrothermal superposition type are Cd (100%) + As (100%) + Pb (100%) + Zn (100%) + Cu (100%) + Cr (79%) + Ni (29%) + Hg (21%). The continental volcanic rock type gold deposits are Cd (90%) + Cu (90%) + Pb (70%) + As (40%) + Zn (40%) + Hg (10%) + Ni (10%) + Cr (10%). The magmatic hydrothermal gold deposits are Cu (100%) + Cd (100%) + Pb (100%) + Cr (100%) + Ni (100%) + Hg (75%) + As (75%).
