The aim of the research is to show the main reasons for the Russian involvement in the Middle East after the Arab spring while it was not intervened in the Middle East in the 2000s. This research argues that Russia intervened in Syria after the Arab spring in order to secure its interests in the Middle East which was threatened by the United States. Russia felt insecure due to the American policies which threatened the Russian interests. This research focuses on the uprising in Syria and how it led to challenge the hegemony of the US. This research is divided into four chapters. The first chapter includes the literature review regarding the Russian intervention in Syria and it discusses the main assumptions of the power transition theory. The second chapter discusses the global patterns of interaction between Russia and the west. In addition, it discusses how the process of power transition started. The third chapter discusses the main indicators for the transition on the regional level. The fourth chapter includes conclusion of the research through analyzing the Russian intervention in the Middle East after the Arab Spring in terms of the power transition theory and the expected scenarios for the future regarding the power transition. %K Russia %K United States %K China %K Power Transition Theory %K Middle East %U http://www.oalib.com/paper/6763830
