%X 本文借助美国当代英语语料库(COCA),采用定量分析和对比的方法,探究assessment和evaluation两个具有“评估”意义的名词在搭配行为和语义韵特征上的异同点。研究发现,assessment的搭配词范围更广,种类更多,evaluation的消极语义韵特征相对来说较为明显。在此基础上,建议英语教师采用语料库进行词汇教学,同时帮助学生学习使用语料库这一新的学习工具,进一步提升教学质量。
Based on the Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA), this paper makes a quantitative and contrastive analysis of the collocational behavior and semantic prosodies of English synonyms “assessment” and “evaluation”, attempting to find the similarities and differences. The study shows that there is a broader range and more categories of the collocation of “assessment”, and negative semantic prosodies can be clearly seen for “evaluation”. Moreover, we suggest that English teachers should apply corpus into vocabulary teaching and help students get this new tool, further improving the quality of teaching.
