%0 Journal Article %T Nakshi Sheikh Kazancizade Emin Edib Efendi (The Enlightened Scholar from Province of Sivas) - His Life, Works and Understanding of Wahdat al-Wujud %A Eyyup Akda£¿ %J - %D 2019 %X Kazanc£¿zade Emin Ed£¿b Efendi is one, who grew up in Sivas and lived in the last period of the Ottoman Empire, of the significant intellectuals. Emin Ed£¿b Efendi whose family resided in Bukhara, served as a teacher in Sivas Military Middle School for many years and was a member in the Ottoman Parliament for two terms. Apart from his official duties, Emin Ed£¿b Efendi was a follower of the sect ¡®Nak£¿bend£¿¡¯ and his tariqa chain reached to Mevlana Halid-i Ba£¿dad£¿ through his sheikh Muhammed Kemah£¿. Emin Ed£¿b Efendi taught the true way for twenty-three years after the death of his sheikh Muhammad Kemah£¿ in 1313/1896. Emin Ed£¿b Efendi's religious and sufi approaches were based on the prominent figures in the field of sufism such as Imam al-Ghazali, Abdulkadid Ghailani, Mevlana Celaledd£¿n-i R£¿m£¿, Muhyiddin £¿bn¨¹'l-Arab£¿, Ibn al-Far£¿z, Mahmud £¿eb¨¹ster£¿, Abdurrahman Cam£¿ and £¿smail Hakk£¿ Bursev£¿. Emin Ed£¿b Efendi, who was heavily influenced by the Ekber£¿ Irfan (wisdom) tradition, accepted the wahdat-i wujud ¡®as the summit of spiritual education and the tawhid¡¯ (oneness of God). In his poems, Emin Ed£¿b Efendi, intensely chanting divine love and wahdat-i wujud, is a scholar in zahiri (outward) sciences besides his Sufi identity. In this regard, he got into the dilemma of zahir-batin (outward-inward sciences) and madrasa-tekke in his personality.
