%0 Journal Article %T The Semantic Meaning of the Concepts of ¡®al-Khawf¡¯ and ¡®al-Khashya¡¯ in the Qur¡¯an %A Ahmet NA£¿R %J - %D 2018 %X Khawf (fear) is a term used to express the fear and worries about one¡¯s own situation by Allah. Being featured in about 125 verses together with the term khawf (fear), this topic, along its equivalent term khashya (awe), exists as the most used conceptions by which the fear is expressed in Qur¡¯an. Secular and ethereal are being the primary; all kinds of fear that are for human being and even for the prophets are extensively featured in different verses of Qur¡¯an. On the other hand, being the opposite of fear, the terms Amn (meaning trust) and Raja (hope) are the concepts that are also covered in our study. Islam, which values the balance for both world and hereafter, always suggests its followers to stand between fear and hope (bayna¡¯l-khawfi wa al-raja).
