%X By taking reference the words and the deeds of the prophet Mu£¿ammad, the Islamic lawyers and the academicians tried to determine the circumstances under which interest occurs, in other words, they tried to define what is the £¿illa (cause) of interest. Moving from gold and silver mentioned in the £¿ad¨©th, £¿illa of interest has the characteristics of ¡°being weighed with a kind¡± according to the £¿anaf¨©s and £¿anbal¨©s, ¡°having the characteristics of money as the dominant element¡± according to the Sh¨¡fi£¿¨©s and M¨¡lik¨©s, and ¡°being characterized as only money¡± according to some jurists. Moving from wheat, barley, palm and salt mentioned in the £¿ad¨©th mentioned in the £¿ad¨©th, £¿illa of interest has the characteristics of¡± ¡°being weighed with a kind¡± according to the £¿anaf¨©s and £¿anbal¨©s, ¡°being food¡± according to the Sh¨¡fi£¿¨©s and ¡°being food that can be stocked¡± according to the M¨¡lik¨©s. Along with those, £¿illa like ¡°fold goods¡± and ¡°gender and class unity¡± have been proposed at the present time
