%0 Journal Article %T New Institutional Economy: an analysis of the sugarcane industry, highlighting the institutional factors regarding the production and commercialization of bioelectricity %J - %D 2019 %R http://dx.doi.org/10.5902/2179460X35978 %X The objective of this theoretical essay is to analyze the influence of the institutional environment, highlighting the institutional factors, its means facing to rules of game forward to production and commercialization of electricity, coming from the biomass of sugarcane, as a good renewable energy. Thus, a review of the literature was made under the theoretical contribution of the New Institutional Economy - NEI that addresses the role of institutions. This study is relevant as long as Brazilian energetic matrix is undergoing a transition period, in another word, it¡äs being restructuring, so that alternative renewable sources make up the supply of the electric matrix that is still dependent on fossil fuels. It¡äs known the complex impacts are caused by fossil fuels. This is an exploratory, descriptive and qualitative approach. It was found that the performance of organizations is influenced by the institutional environment and the organization decision can also influence the rules of the game.
