%X ABSTRACT The ideas of Edmund Burke is a basic reference source for conservative political philosophy. The main raison of this fact is his understanding of reason. This study elaborated the character of Burke¡¯s understanding of reason. It is specified that the tradition and prejudice are important in order to comprehend Burke¡¯s understanding of reason. Lastly, the subject how can the reason functions morally was handled. These points were emphasized in order to expound the understanding of reason directs Burke¡¯s political philosophy
