In armistice period, the break point of £¿zmir sports life was the occupation of £¿zmir on 15 May 1919. It was seen that the competition between the Turks, the Greeks and the Levantes had a balanced stance but Turkish teams, especially the Altay Idman Yurdu, was dominant to others. However, after the occupation, the Turks were excluded from the sports fields and as a result Greek teams came to forefront. This development in sports fields is worthy of the fact that it is a reflection of individualism in the field of politics. A manifestation of the efforts of Greece to disseminate the Greek sovereignty in western Anatolia from the political, economic and social fronts has also been a struggle in the sports arena. In this study evaluating £¿zmir sports life during armistice period, the activities of school teams and amateur sports clubs were evaluated within the framework of information gathered from the press and memoirs of the period.
