%0 Journal Article %T The Evaluation Of Clinical And Histopathological Features Of Esophagus Carcinomas In Erzurum: A Tertiary Center Study %A £¿enay Erdo£¿an durmu£¿ %J - %D 2018 %X Aim: The aim of this study is to examine the patient characteristics, presentations and histopathological features of esophagus carcinomas in a group of patients. Material method: 675 esophageal biopsies that accepted to Erzurum Region Training and Research Hospital Pathology Department between 2008 and 2016 were reviewed retrospectively. 238 malignant cases were included to the study. Data such as age and gender of the cases were obtained from the hospital system. Results: 238 (35.25%) of 675 esophageal biopsies were malignant. The mean age of the group was 66,75 (age range 23-96). 194 of our patients were squamous epithelial carcinoma, 40 of them adenocarcinoma and 4 of them were mixed-type tumours (squamous epithelial carcinoma + small cell carcinoma). In squamous epithelial cell carcinoma group the mean age was 66,35, with a female : male ratio 112:82.But in adenocarcinoma group a male dominance was seen (Female : male ratio was 11:29). Conclusion: The cases in our study consist of cases of Erzurum Region Training and ResearchHospital, which is one of the reference hospitals of North-Eastern Anatolia Region of our country. And also this study is important in order to complement the data of Atat¨¹rkUniversityHospital.
