%0 Journal Article %T An Evaluation on the Maarif Congress, Science Delegations and International Secondary Teachers' Congress %A Osman Kubilay G¨¹L %J - %D 2018 %X One of the most important reasons for the collapse of the Ottoman Empire is that it does not follow the developments of the education system in the age. The first intellectuals of the Republic of Turkey were those who lived in the last period of the Ottoman State. Therefore, the intellectuals who are aware of the mistakes of the education system have made efforts not to make the same mistake in the newly established state. While the National Struggle was still on, education was given importance to the studies and therefore the Maarif Congress and Delegations were gathered. In addition to efforts to build a national education system, developments in other countries' education were tried to be followed. Therefore, representatives were delegated on behalf of Turkey to the International Secondary School Teachers' Congress in Prague in 1923. The subjects discussed in this congress were written by the Turkish delegate Ali Haydar and reached to today. In this study, the Maarif Congress, the First and Second Delegations Meeting, the International Secondary Education Teachers' Congress, were examined in terms of their impact on educational life. The data of a descriptive studies were obtained from official documents.
