%0 Journal Article %T New diet approaches in irritable bowel syndrome %A Elif EDE %J - %D 2019 %X Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional bowel disease characterized by a change in intestinal motility, the cause of which is unknown. The incidence of IBS in societies varies between 10-25%. IBS, which is not a life-threatening disease, has many symptoms, such as abdominal pain or discomfort in the abdomen, diarrhea, constipation and bloating, which significantly affect the quality of life. Since IBS is idiopathic, treatment with IBS is designed to alleviate symptoms. All these symptoms, which greatly affect the quality of life, can be exacerbated or diminished depending on the individual's eating habits. In this review, it is aimed to provide an overview of nutritional therapy and current nutritional therapy approaches in irritable bowel syndrome.
