%0 Journal Article %T WORK FROM HOME: IS IT FREEDOM OR CAPTIVITY? %A Ba£¿ak KICIR %J - %D 2019 %X As a result of major changes in work organization new flexible working types emerge. Advancements in computer and internet technology enable the work to be carried out of the workplace. Work from home (teleworking) is one of the working types, which has become widespread in the last 20 years. The purpose of this study was to investigate how individuals decide to work from home and investigate the advantages and disadvantages of work from home. Effects of work from home on social life were also searched. The qualitative research method was used to obtain detailed information about the subject. Research data was collected from 12 translators, who were homeworkers, via face-to-face interview. Results showed that people working from home have time and place flexibility and they benefit from this flexibility when necessary. Translators have job autonomy too.
