%X Gallipoli a small town of £¿anakkale in Dardanelles, which has gained an international fame with its key role and great responsibility during the World War I, has had a multilayered history from the past to the present. In particular, we find in this article, which shows how closely intertwined the onomastics and the progressive history each other, that a name is not only a simple naming, but also an important reflection of the cultural change and diversity. In addition to the historical development of the name of Gallipoli and the Gallipoli Peninsula from the Classical Greek Era to the Ottoman Empire, a short overview of the other ¡®Gallipolis¡¯s were also presented
