Highway, the most common way of transportation, makes life easier, but also causes significant losses with the risk of traffic accidents. Even though being a public transportation driver is not an attention-grabbing profession, it enables millions of people to reach from one place to another every day in Istanbul. Traffic accidents are the most important reasons among the leading causes of death around the world and drivers are the most important factors for those accidents; therefore, the significance of driver selection process is increasing. So, psychomotor, cognitive skills and personality traits are important topics for driver selection process and research areas of traffic psychology that is one of the sub-branches of psychology. It is thought that paying an attention to choose drivers who have the necessary skills to be a driver will not only increase the safety in the traffic but also decrease the accident rates, the injury rates and the financial loss rates.
