%0 Journal Article %T Research On Violence Against Women And Serv£¿ce From Women¡¯s Shelter House: Example Of Ankara %A £¿a£¿r£¿ £¿£¿LTA£¿ %J - %D 2019 %X Aim: Women who are receiving service in 4 women's shelter houses in Ankara province under the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services (MOFLSS); demographic characteristics, reasons for applying to the women's guesthouse and to determine the efficiency of the services provided in women's shelter houses. Method: The study population consists of women sheltered from the women's shelter houses in Ankara. The sample of the study consisted of 42 women who agreed to participate in the study. The sample size of the study population is 90 and the total size is 42. The rate of representation of the sample was 46.6%. The sociodemographic characteristics of the women staying in the shelter, the reasons for the application and the efficiency of the services provided in this organization were evaluated. Results: The participants' ages ranged between 20 and 55 years. 38.9% of women receiving service at women's shelter houses were married before the age of 18 and 41.7% decided to marry with arranged marriage; 73.7% did not receive high school or higher education and 57.1% due to violence; 42.9% of the women did not have a place to stay because of socio-economic deprivation; 45.3% had been living in the women's guesthouse for more than 60 days; It was found that 50% of the participants received guest service in the past. Conclusion: Women's shelter houses are places where victims of violence are accommodated for temporary sheltering needs, as well as organizations for supporting women's empowerment.
