%0 Journal Article %T Individualism and Integration as a Quality of Marriage %J - %D 2019 %X Marriage is a form of relationship that is established not only to ensure the continuity of the human generation, but to meet the social and personal needs of both sides, as well. Individuals have diverse goals or priorities in marital relationships which occur through different ways such as using intermediaries (arranged marriage) or dating. Those ways may influence the premarital decision-making procedures or the process of maintaining the marriage. The trends for the increase in the average age of marriage, the decrease in marriage rates and the increase in divorces confirm that opinion. The negative image of marriage and divorce rates makes the quality of the marital relationship a matter of discussion. In the present study, the marital relationship is further addressed in the context of individualism and integration. Through the study as a compilation, the philosophical, cultural and religious foundations of individualism and integration are aimed to be discussed briefly on a psychological basis. The result indicates that marriage adjustment will be affected adversely in the case that one of the two aspects comes into prominence predominantly in marriage. Achieving individualism and integration efforts in the scope of balance between belonging and individuality is significant for meeting personal and social needs. This balance has the potential to improve the quality of marital relations %K Evlilik %K bireyselle£¿me %K b¨¹t¨¹nle£¿me %U http://dergipark.org.tr/tsh/issue/45523/572226
