%T Images of Scientists Through The Eyes of Pre-Service Teachers of Gifted Students

%X The purpose of this study is to investigate the images of scientists through the eyes of pre-service teachers of gifted students. The study involved 87 volunteer preservice teachers. Data gathered from Chamber (1983)¡¯s Draw-a-Scientist Test (DAST) and open-ended questions. Students¡¯ drawings were evaluated based on some criterions of scientist¡¯s characteristics (e.g., appearance, gender). The results are similar to prior studies and indicate that students¡¯ images about scientists are stereotypical; images are generally with glasses, laboratory coats, working with experiment tubes indoors; using books and dominantly alone males in laboratories
