Even though the literature involves a great number of the related studies, there is no specific study assessing the presence of any difference between gender and emotional intelligence. For this reason, the aim of the present study was to examine the difference in emotional intelligence levels in terms of gender. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out with 685 individuals aged between 17 and 78 years, who met the inclusion criteria, between July-December 2016 in the campus of Gaziosmanpa£¿a University. The data were collected by using the "Personal Information Form" and the "Revised Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale (RSEIS)". Number, percentage distribution, chi square, and t-test were used to evaluate the data. Results: The results of the study revealed no statistically significant difference between the descriptive characteristics of the groups. It was found that while RSEIS total score of the women was 140.10¡À17.46, RSEIS total score of the men was 139.48¡À17.96. The difference between RSEIS total scores and subscale mean scores of the groups was not statistically significant. Conclusion: It was concluded in the study that men and women had similar emotional intelligence scores, they could use their emotions almost at the same level and they were equally optimistic but the men were more capable of appraising their emotions than the women %K Cinsiyet %K Duygusal Zeka %K Ebe %U http://dergipark.org.tr/gumussagbil/issue/46106/442048
