%X In the more than a century strong resistance period against the forced assimilation on Bulgarian soil Turkish and Muslim women often fought on the front lines, alongside men, they had been ardent supporters and protectors of their spouses, fathers and siblings. The number of the heroic women who were not afraid to sacrifice their lives for the cause and did not bow down despite the threat of prosecution and exile is not small. The following study brings to light the hidden, due to lack of research, history of our women¡¯s courageous struggles against the forced assimilation of Muslim population in Bulgaria
