%T EVALUT£¿ON OF HAND HYGIENE COMPLIANCE OF AUXILIARY SERVICE STAFF IN INTENSIVE CARE

%X Objective: Intensive care units; hospital departments where healthcare-related infections are most often seen due to reasons such as the multiplicity of invasive procedures, hospitalization duration, personal characteristics of the patients and underlying diseases. It has been determined that the hand hygiene, which is considered as the golden rule for preventing the develop and spread of the infection, is not sufficient in the researchers conducted. £¿n the line with these information,our research planned with the aim of determine hand hygiene compliance status of auxiliary service personnel who are assist patient care and responsible to cleaning the service in intensive care unit. Materials and methods: The study was carried out in four healthcare organization (intensive care units) in £¿zmir between 15.03-30.04.2016. The sample of the study consisted of an accessible auxiliary service personnel working in intensive care units (n = 88).Data of research collected by using Personal £¿nformation Form and Scale For Hand Hyg£¿ene Compl£¿ance Of Auxiliary Serv£¿ce Staff . Statistical analysis was performed with number percent distributions, independent two-group t-test between two groups and ANOVA in comparison of two-way group mean scores and p <0.05 was considered significant. Results: 43.2% of auxiliary service staff participated in the survey were in the 30-39 age group, 61.4% were male, 68.2% were married, 36.4% were high school graduates, 67% of them had less income than their expense, %38, 6 working in intensive care unit for 1-5 years, weekly working hours average 47,6 +3.06 and auxiliary service staff hand hygiene compliance score average is73,76 +10,3. Conclusion: It has been determined in our research that hand hygiene compliance of and auxiliary service staff is high
