%X Magic was known in almost all ancient civilizations. However, the magicians remained in a position that was necessarily respected and feared. So sihr and buyu were the same meaning? This article aims to subject the concept of magic/sihr to a semantic analysis through the studies of history, literature and linguistics from the early periods. According to this, the content of the concept and the identity determined for this concept will be tried to be identified and also the history of magic will be explained by examples. At the same time, the content of the concept that emerged during this examination will be re-examined with the relevant verses from the Quran and whether or not it assumes meaning integrity. The main objective of the article is to draw attention to the fact that every concept goes through a living process throughout history and to show that the concept of magic is not an exception
