%X The explanation of the four phases of Freud in the context of the substitution theory would lay the foundations for a very functional system of analysis of the narrative texts. The language is legitimized as a dream work and the text is analysed as a dream, and the author's and reader's attitudes between the resulting four levels can be better understood. With this in mind, we have selected the novel "Mademoiselle Noraliya¡¯s Armchair" by Peyami Safa in order to substantiate the analysis. The use of the author on the fringes of the pragmatic level and on the pragmatic level provides us with a very wide range to explain the purpose
