The traces of different cultures are also seen in the local names of the plants. For example, genus Helichrysum Mill. is generally known as "everlasting", but the different names are given to this plant in different parts of Anatolia. The aim of this study is to investigate the local names, foreign common names and origins of Turkey Helichrysum species. In this study, a total of 63 local names belong to 30 Helichrysum taxa naturally occurring in Turkey are presented. Some species such as H. arenarium, H. graveolens, H. orientale, H. plicatum, H. sanguineum and H. stoechas have more local names. These species have been expressed in different localities in different regions because they are widely used by the public and have a wide distribution area in Turkey. Although there are well-known terms among the local names of Helichrysum species, there are also terms that are not commonly used in public. When the meaning and regions of these terms is examined, the factors such as plant colors, appearance patterns of open or unopened flowers and spreading areas are effective on local nomenclature. The most common local names in Helichrysum species are ¡°£¿lmez £¿i£¿ek¡±, ¡°alt£¿n otu¡±, ¡°sar£¿ £¿i£¿ek¡± and ¡°yayla £¿i£¿e£¿i¡±.
