%X One of the discussion topics of early £¿Abb¨¡sid history is the role of maw¨¡l¨© (clients) in the political events of the period. Particularly S¨¡s¨¡nian-Persian influence on the military, political and cultural areas has been effective in beginning of this scientific debates. Thus, many events of the period were evaluated with a similar perspective and some people whose names were involved in these events were subjected to a number of accusations by both classical historians and contemporary researchers. One of them is al-Am¨©n¡¯s £¿¨¡jib and waz¨©r Fazl b. Rab£¿¡¯, who had taken an active role in the struggle between al-Am¨©n and al-Ma£¿m¨±n, the first power struggle within the £¿Abb¨¡sid family. In this study, the life of al-Fa£¿l b. al-Rab¨©£¿ as one of the leading statesmen of the £¿Abb¨¡sids, and his role in the events and the politics of the period are tried to be put forward and the claims about him are tried to be answered
