%0 Journal Article %T THE EFFECTS OF ON THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ENGAGEMENT LEVEL OF SPORT EVENTS %J - %D 2018 %X The purpose of this study; The determination of the effects of extracurricular sport activities carried out in igh schools (School team-exercise activity) on the school engagement levels of the students This study, in which the relational screening model was used, has been carried out on 718 students who are selected by the random sampling method and who studied at the high school level.In the study, ¡°School Engagement Scale¡± was used as a data collection tool. In the process of analyzing the data, frequency and percentage distribution, arithmetic average and standard deviation and unpaired t-test were utilized. In the comparison process of more than two groups, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Post Hoc tests values were used. According to the findings from the research, the student¡¯s school engagement score averages have been determined as 3.35¡À0.50. Following two facts have been determined in this study; no differences related to the variables used for the school engagement scores of the participants were observed between the male and female genders and lower school engagement levels were observed in those studying at science high schools and those never participating in school sports activities.Results: Increasing the number of high school sports activities and the encouragement for participation at those activities increases the school related sense of belonging which in turn may support the increase of school engagement levels. Increasing the school related sense of belonging in an effective factor for the prevention of alienation from school, which is a major problem in the educational field.
