%X The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the concept of ¡°science mentality¡± used by M¨¹mtaz Turhan, an intellectual who brought a conservative viewpoint to Turkish modernization during the Republic Period, as a criterion for the experience of modernization and the future of modernization. In the text, in order to understand the concept of ¡°science mentality¡±, the relation between tradition and modernity in social change will be mentioned and then M¨¹mtaz Turhan's view on tradition and modernization will be evaluated. Finnaly, in the light of these evaluations, the meaning frame of the concept will be tried to be formed
