%0 Journal Article %T Health Index of The Provinces: An Experiment According to Composite Index Approach %A Atalay £¿A£¿LAR %J - %D 2019 %X Aim: The aim of this study is to develop an index that will allow relatively compare 81 provinces in Turkey according to health indicators. Material and Methods: Firstly, four sub-indexes were created as Infrastructure, Human Resources, Service and Health Indicator. Then, Health Index was found taking arithmetic mean of four sub-indexes. A linear programming based model was used evaluating provinces relatively. Results: The first and last provinces are Burdur and Hakkari for Infrastructure Index, K£¿r£¿kkale and £¿£¿rnak for Human Resource Index, Ayd£¿n and £¿£¿rnak for Service Index, Mu£¿la and Kilis for Health Indicator Index. The first five provinces were found as Trabzon, Malatya, Burdur, Denizli, Bolu while the last five provinces Van, Mu£¿, A£¿r£¿, Hakkari, £¿£¿rnak for Health Index. Of the top ten provinces, three are Aegean (Denizli, Mu£¿la, U£¿ak), two are Mediterranean (Burdur, Isparta) and East Blacksea (Trabzon, Rize), one is Middle East Anatolia (Malatya), East Marmara (Bolu) and Northeast Anatolia provinces (Erzurum). When regional distribution of the last ten provinces is examined, four are Middle East Anatolia (Bing£¿l, Van, Mu£¿, Hakkari), two are Northeast Anatolia (Kars, A£¿r£¿) and Southeast Anatolia (£¿anl£¿urfa, £¿£¿rnak), one is from East Marmara (Bilecik) and West Blacksea region (Kastamonu). Conclusion: In this study, sub-indexes evaluating sub-dimensions of provinces' health indicators and the Health Index which provides a general evaluation consisting of combination of these dimensions were calculated.
