%0 Journal Article %T The Relationship between Globalization, Economic Growth and Environmental Pollution in Turkey %A Tuba YILDIZ %J - %D 2018 %X Globalization is defined as the process of economic integration and interdependence of people and societies worldwide. The strengthening of multinational companies, developments in communication and technology, and the economic liberalization initiatives of the OECD member states are for the key factors of globalization. Despite the positive effects on the development of global economy, some negative consequences of globalization emerged concomitantly. As technological advancements and communication means dispersed, the distance between countries declines. This situation invites more trade and economic growth. As a result of economic growth and production increase, natural resources are often depleted worldwide. Depletion of natural resources leads to an increase in inorganic-based production., as part of production increase, the carbon dioxide emission level constantly increases, which disturbs the natural equilibrium. Therefore, it can be argued that this study is important with regards to its interest in explaining the impact of globalization on environmental pollution.
