%T The Settlement of Karachay Turks in Karahisar-£¿ Sahib and the Encountered Problems

%X One of the Caucasian peoples immigrating to the Ottoman country with the pressure of Russia after the 1877-1878 Ottoman-Russia War was Karachay Turks. Karachay immigrations starting massively for the first time in 1885-1886 had its peak at those periods and between 1905 and 1907. A part of these immigrants coming in the second wave settled in several areas of the Ottoman geography were located in some places within the Karahisar-£¿ Sahib Sanjak. In the present study, the settlements of Karachay Turks arriving in £¿stanbul by sea after coming down from the north of Caucasia, sent to Konya, and settling in the Karahisar-£¿ Sahib Sanjak after escaping from Konya and the problems encountered during this period were discussed in the light of the Ottoman Archive documents
