%0 Journal Article %T A Comparative Study of Ibn ¨¡jurr¨±m¡¯s al-Muqaddima al-¨¡jurr¨±miyya and Birgiv¨©¡¯s al£¿¨¡w¨¡mil in Terms of Methodology and Approach Differences in Language Teaching %A M¨¹cahit K¨¹£¿¨¹KSARI %J - %D 2018 %X A Comparative Study of Ibn ¨¡jurr¨±m¡¯s al-Muqaddima al-¨¡jurr¨±miyya and Birgiv¨©¡¯s al£¿¨¡w¨¡mil in Terms of Methodology and Approach Differences in Language Teaching This article discusses some of the methodological and approach differences in language teaching in classical Arabic grammar books. In this context, Ibn ¨¡jurr¨±m¡¯s (d.723/1323) alMuqaddima al-¨¡jurr¨±miyya and Birg¨©v¨©¡¯s (d.981/1573) al-£¿Aw¨¡mil have been identified as two examples. Although these two works, which have been taught in madrasas for many centuries, are based on the theory of governance (£¿¨¡mil theory) they have some differences in internal planning and teaching methods. These differences manifest themselves as a preference for a more thematic understanding due to some pedagogical concerns or as a strict application of the i£¿r¨¡b-centered classification.
